These are the basic differences between an art print vs a giclée.
First an art print is any reproduction of an original work of art e g.
Printed reproductions of my original works are available on either fine art paper or gallery wrapped canvas.
Second a giclée is actually a type of art print but it has very special characteristics more details later.
This paper does not look or feel like poster paper.
The composition of the surface layer must allow the ink to adhere well over time while offering a neutral ph to ensure that the paper also stands the test of time.

When purchasing a fine art print one of the decisions to be made is whether you want it on paper or on canvas each of these surfaces has different qualities and different strengths and weaknesses.
Printing on paper is the traditional way of displaying a photograph and it certainly has an aesthetic quality that is unique and well understood.
It is luxurious with a slight texture similar to watercolor paper and a matte surface.
For my color giclee prints i recommend the premium photo luster 1 paper or and for my more color neutral art prints like sinuosity 1 or smooth moves or similar faux charcoal art i prefer the ultrasmooth fine art 2 paper.
Digital photos printed on canvas and then gallery wrapped have a vibrant 3 d feel and have the look of a piece of work taken straight from a gallery or museum.
A gallery wrapped canvas giclée is a canvas print that has been stretched over stretcher bars so that the sides will either be a continuation of the image or a solid color.
Each are numbered and signed.

If there is a particular giclee paper or canvas you wish to use but we do not have.
They also have the same archival properties as the canvas prints and are printed with the same type of high quality inks.
Most of my printing has been onto paper of various finishes and textures and i currently use a fine art 100 cotton based mat paper.
Prints that are made to last because fine art paper is intended for the printing of high quality photographs its quality must be ideally suited to receiving inks and pigments.
I like the luster paper for its color range and smooth gradations and the ultrasmooth for its beautiful.
